Polish Festival Seattle Overview
Polish Festival Seattle is a joyful celebration of Polish culture, traditions and contemporary achievements with audiences in the Pacific Northwest. It is produced by the Seattle Polish Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, in partnership with Seattle Center and with support and collaboration from the Polish Home Association and Polish-American community, who contribute their time, leadership and energy to the event.
The 8th Annual Polish Festival Seattle will be held on July 13, 2019 at Seattle Center Armory and Mural Amphitheatre, as part of the year-round Seattle Center Festál Cultural Festivals. The Polish Festival Seattle program will feature authentic Polish food, live music and dance performances, exhibits, children’s activities, demos and workshops, local merchants, vodka tasting, and a beer garden.
In November of 1918, after 123 years of partitions by neighboring powers, Poland regained its Independence. Despite being erased from a map, due to perseverance and sacrifices of Poles at home and abroad, the Polish culture, language and ideals of freedom stood the test of time. The end of WWI brought sweeping political changes in Europe resulting in the restoration of Poland’s sovereignty as the Second Polish Republic.
The Polish Home Association (PHA) was established in 1918 and still thrives today. It is a place for celebrations, festivals, meals, meetings, including older and new generations. Today, as yesterday, the Polish Cultural Center is a hub of activities and a place for people of Polish heritage and their multicultural friends to come together. The PHA’s mission is to create, maintain, and operate a democratic association which will promote and uphold such mutual interests as Polish culture, history, and education among the people of Polish descent as well as members of general public in Seattle and its vicinity.
Polish Festival Seattle is a family-oriented gathering place for the Greater Seattle’s multicultural community. Founded in 2012 and a proud member of Festál, Polish Festival provides an opportunity for Polish entertainers to perform in front of audiences as well as Polish-American organizations and vendors to display their talents, products, and services. The festival is a place for Polish Americans to explore their heritage and a venue for all visitors to learn more about their Polish neighbors. We believe that, through cultural awareness, we build understanding and friendship with the community.
